FLOODED? CALL OUR EMERGENCY NUMBER RIGHT AWAY
So you have made your emergency call, and we have dispatched one of our professionals to your location. Upon arrival, he or she will conduct an in-depth inspection and assessment of the extent of the water damage on your property.
During the inspection, our technician will fix the source of water damage and repair it. Any leaks and loose pipes need to be repaired before water damage mitigation, and restoration can proceed.
To understand the extent of the water damage that has affected your property, our inspector will need to determine what type of water it is. Three different types of water carry different levels of contamination:
White water: This type of water is the least damaging. This type of water usually comes from appliances, sinks, burst pipes, rain, and melting snow water. Due to the limited contact with contaminated surfaces, white water leaves the least amount of damage is removed and dried quickly. However, if it is swiftly mitigated, it can result in mold and mildew formation and will need mold remediation.
Gray water: This type of water has some degree of contamination due to where it came from. Any carpeting that’s affected by gray water should be disposed of immediately. Gray water should be attended very quickly since it can develop into black water within 48 hours from occurring. This type of water would involve leaking toilets, washing machines, sump pump failures, etc.
Black water: As you might have guessed, this is the worst type of water that could damage your home. The bacteria and toxins that it carries can place anyone that comes in contact with it at risk of health issues. If you are dealing with black water, you must act immediately and get it taken care of by certified professionals, such as Orange Restoration.
Blackwater could come from sewage spills, rivers spilling over, toilet overflow with feces in it, and ground-level waters rising. When dealing with black water, you can expect many more building materials to get replaced during the restoration process.
The next inspection step is determining how much of an area is affected that we can visually see and the places that might be involved that are not visible. We need to ensure that the flood water is completely removed from the property while knowing that it likes to puddle up and hide in hard to reach places.
Besides, we need to make sure that the flood did not already damage the building’s structure. Additional safety precautions will have to be taken, and a different strategy will be drawn up.
We also take measurements of moisture levels in the air as well as building materials. Measurements will let us better understand the extent of the water damage at hand and the estimated potential amount of building materials needed to be replaced.
Furniture needs to be moved out of the areas that are affected by water damage quickly. If surrounded by moisture for too long, furniture can rust as well as can get affected by mold as well. We offer contents restoration services for the belongings that are damaged by floods and are possible to restore.
